This large park stretches from Mexico down to the coastline off of Honduras, and is home to 85% of Cozumel's dive sites. One of the local dive sites inside the Parque Marino de Cozumel is the San Francisco Reef. This reef is ideally suited for divers in the beginner to intermediate skill level, and sits just off the coast of the Playa San Francisco on the island. Uniquely, the reef runs for about a half mile, and is split into three distinct sections that are separated by yards of sand. This is a rather shallow dive site, with a maximum depth of about fifty feet. The colorful reef is largely populated by sponges, grouper, clown fish, angelfish, and more.
