Black Shark is one of the oldest scuba
diving facilities in Cozumel, Mexico. Cozumel is a celebrated
location for scuba diving, due to its clear waters, its nearby coral
reef, and its abundance of tropical marine life--much of which cannot
be found elsewhere. The Black Shark Dive Shop is many scuba
enthusiasts' one-stop destination for their diving needs in Cozumel.
At the Black Shark Dive Shop visitors
can, of course, rent or purchase scuba diving equipment. They can ask
the staff for advice. All the employees are, themselves, experienced
divers who have been employed at the shop for a long time--for some,
a decade or more. Moreover, all the employees are bilingual, speaking
Spanish and English with equal ease. This makes the dive shop popular
with scuba divers from the United States.
In addition to scuba supplies, the
Black Shark Dive Shop offers organized scuba trips. Customers can
hire a boat that will take them--in a small group generally between
five and seven people--out to the diving site. All the boats follow
the most stringent standards of scuba diving safety. Every boat has a
first aid kit, a radio to call for help in case of any problems, and
extra oxygen tanks. The boats all follow US Coast Guard regulations
to the letter.
The trips are led by an experienced
dive master, often with decades of scuba diving experience behind him
or her. The comparatively small size of the boats means the Black
Shark offers access to more out-of-the-way diving sites.
The Black Shark can also train novice
scuba divers. The dive shop is a P.A.D.I. certified scuba diving
training center.
