Casa Denis is almost a century old restaurant. It is located in a quaint little building situated in the north of clock tower in San Miguel's downtown plaza in Cozumel Island in Mexico. Entering Casa Denis means entering portals of history. You are transported into the distant past of the Angulo family as you see the photographs on the walls of the restaurant showing its three generations serving the very best Yucatecan cuisine to the locals as well as guests from outside.
The photographs show some of the celebrity guests including Jackie Kenny Onassis, Plácido Domingo and many others who have visited it over the decades since its inception. The patrons appear to be a part of the family. The photographs infuse in the guests a sense of belongingness with the family and this is what creates dining at Casa Denis a kind of uniquely familiar, pleasant and memorable experience.
The restaurant is presently run by a couple Denis Angulo and Juanita Angulo. While Denis Angulo oversees the operation and management of the eatery, it is Juanita who is its prime mover. She is indeed a real cooking genius. The restaurant offers Yucatecan, Mexican and American cuisine but it is the Yucatecan decalcifies which is its real forte.
The restaurant started with empanadas and other Yucatecan delicacies and continues to carry forward their finest traditions till to date. Around a decade back the owners decided to introduce some of the home made recopies of sea food tacos which they later diversified into 20 tacos and sub sandwiches. Just taste some of the preparations to see how eating here is a truly different experience.
