Cozumel is full of natural wonders. From the reefs to the jungles, adventurers will never have a shortage on places to explore. In the Chankanaab National Park, home to some of the best natural sights on the island, tourists wishing for something more then lying on the beach will be pleasantly surprised.
Along with the Archeological Park and the Salt Water Lagoon is the Cenote Aerolito de Paraiso. A cenote is, basically, a sink hole. There are many cenotes all over Cozumel and Mexico and many of these cenotes are lead to a massive network of underwater caverns and caves. Cenote diving has soared in popular in recent years since it offers a step up from the reef diving that is offered in other areas. Cenote diving, however, is not something to be taken lightly. In fact, this form of diving can be very dangerous and should only be attempted by experienced divers and only with a guide that knows the cenote extremely well. For divers that are alone or not properly trained, cenote diving can be dangerous even deadly.
The Cenote Aerolito de Paraiso is one of the most popular of Cozumel's cenotes so finding a guide should not be too difficult. Starting with a 50 foot canyon, divers will soon find themselves in a large cavern with a dept of more then 3,000 feet. Divers will be able to see breathtaking rock formations and possibly cave fish.
Cenote diving can be a memorable experience, but it does take a certain amount of bravery and technical proficiency. The Cenote Aerolito de Paraiso is one of the best and attracts numerous divers each year.
