The Coffee Bean in Cozumel, Mexico is
one of that city's most notable American-style coffee shops. It's a
fashionable and popular place for young people--both locals and
Americans--to congregate and to socialize as they drink their coffee.
The interior of the place is best
described as "modern." It is evident that a great deal of
thought and effort went into the presentation and design of the
Coffee Bean's interior. White is the dominant color. The coffee bar
is inlaid in tiles, all of which reflect subtly different shades of
white, from beige to bluish.
The first feature of the Coffee Bean to
strike American visitors is the large selection and prominent display
of pastries and baked goods, which is comparatively rare in an
American coffee shop. Many of the pastries are baked right on the
premises, including the pies and cakes. Due to the unique type of
sugar used most widely in that part of Mexico--a more coarse-grained
variety than what is typically found in the US--the pastries here
have a unique, and highly recommended, flavor. The chocolate cake, in
particular, is a favorite among visitors.
As for coffee drinks, the Coffee Bean
offers a wide variety, refreshing to those who care whether they are
getting an espresso or a macchiato. Plain coffee, latte, espresso,
cappucino, and all other common coffee drinks involving combinations
of espresso and steamed milk, are served here. Those used to strong
drinks, beware: there have been complaints that the espresso drinks
here don't use enough caffeine. However, the coffee itself is always
fresh.
