Playa Palancar is one of the favorite beaches for many in Cozumel, Mexico. The sand on this beach is clean and fine, making it perfect for a romantic barefoot stroll down the beach. You'll find a lot of tables and seating arrangements here, but not too many beach lounge chairs so be sure to bring your beach towel if you plan to do some sun bathing. They offer rentals of beach chairs, hammocks, fishing and snorkeling equipment. Playa Palancar is a beautiful beach with some of the prettiest tropical foliage you've ever seen.
While some people do attempt snorkeling, it's not what this beach is best known for. Although they do have a great dive shop, which will take you to the reef snorkeling. You'll always find taxis there waiting to take you around. Playa Palancar is the furthest beach from the western shore ships so you'll find yourself going past many other beaches on your way to Playa Palancar. Many enjoy this beach so much though that they want it to be their final destination. Cruise ships occasionally bring passengers here for the day. You'll also find a beach bar here that is very relaxing and accommodating, although many claim it's not a place partiers will want to spend the entire evening. There is an excellent beach restaurant at Playa Palancar, which serves excellent food. One of their specialties is their fish taco. This is a dish you have to try to appreciate. Unknown to many is the Playa Palancar is the beach that was in the 1984 film, "Against All Odds" with Rachel Ward, Jeff Bridges and James Woods.
