Cozumel has many reasons for tourists and nature enthusiasts to visit the beautiful flora and fauna of the island. The Santa Rosa wall is one of the favorite diving spots in all of Cozumel for its beautiful views and the exotic sea life which is often seen. This dive is considered to be of an intermediate to advanced level dive for people who have experience in depths of over 50'. The dives for the Santa Rosa wall reach depths of up to 130'
The danger as well as the beauty lies within the most beautiful parts of the dive. A huge and abrupt drop off leads into enormous coral overhangs erupting from the deep blue ocean which house a variety of sea life of all types. The strong current in this area allows people to drift dive and simply let the current take them over the beautiful sights. At the northern end of the wall, a series of tunnels are a popular spot for divers to swim through. A divemaster is always present when on dives, however the dive does have its level of precise skill requirements.
Different species of rays and sea turtles are common to be seen when on dives at the Santa Rosa wall. Diving in a beautiful spot, such as Cozumel, is a great place to see the under sea life which is seen by far less people.
Unless scuba certified, it is not recommended that people who are unfamiliar to the area try and tackle the Santa Rosa wall without a divemaster. Many of the boat tours in town specifically tour the Santa Rosa wall and even offer scuba certification courses.
